Eddy Sacksith Out-of-School Time Program Administrator Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia
With an interest in Art and a degree from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Eddy Sacksith joined CAGP in the Fall of 2003 and now the Out-of-School Time (OST) Program Administrator. Working at all levels of staffing in Youth Programs has given her a better understanding and a genuine appreciation for OST staff and program operations and evaluations. Eddy's experience with After School and Summer Camp programs has enabled her to make positive choices that support the quality improvement of programming.
Eddy's Laotian immigrant parents worked very hard to provide for and her sister when they were children. At that time, Eddy felt cheated of the time spent with her mother and father. She was too young to understand why they had to work so much to make ends meet. As Eddy got older, it was with their encouragement that she joined in various after school activities. They had the need for her to be in a safe place doing something productive. She was excited about participating in activities like art club, cheerleading, yearbook committee, baseball and soccer team.
As a parent Eddy is able to truly appreciate the value youth programs. Eddy's time with caring adults and peers her age was a nurturing experience for her positive youth development. Eddy would like that same experience for her own children and all the youth that participate in programs.
